Mrs. L.J. Westberg passed away at her home near Stanhope Tuesday morning, January 18, 1910, at the age of 59 years, 11 months and 28 days.

Mary C. Gustas was born in Sweden Jan. 21, 1850. When she was six years old she came with her parents to America and settled at Moline, Illinois. In 1869 she was married to Lewis J. Westberg and a few years later moved to Hamilton county, Ia., and has resided in that neighborhood for thirty-five years. Three children, two boys and one girl have preceded her in death. Three sons and two daughters survive her, Mr. Arnold Westberg, of Des Moines, Mrs. C.E. McFarland of Sioux Rapids, Walter, who lives near Saratoga and Elmer and Irene who lived at home with the mother.

The funeral services were held on Thursday at the Christian church in Stanhope, of which deceased was a member, conducted by Rev. G.H. Dick and the remains were laid to rest in the Stanhope cemetery [Lawn Hill Cemetery].
