Roy Wahman, 71, Dies at Stratford; Rites on Saturday

STRATFORD - Roy Wahman, 71, Stratford, died suddenly at his home yesterday.

Deputy Sheriff Roger Smith said Mr. Wahman apparently suffered a heart attack while driving a tractor down a gravel road near his home. He fell off onto the road and the tractor went on into the ditch. A passerby notified the sheriff's office.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist church in Stratford with the Rev. Harold Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Hill Stanhope cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Hanson Funeral home.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Clyde (Maxine) Thompson, Ames; two brothers, Carl Wahman of Stratford and Elmo Wahman of Dayton; one sister, Mrs. Jack Simonson, Stratford, and one sister-in-law, with whom he had made his home, Mrs. Helen Wahman.

He was preceded in death by his wife [Emma Philp, she died in September, 1925].

Mr. Wahman was a lifelong resident of the Stratford community and farmed for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist church and the American Legion at Stratford.
