Rites held today for local youth; drowned in gulf

Funeral services were scheduled at 4 p.m. today at the Lawn Hill cemetery at Stanhope for Dan Telkamp, 19-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward [Elmira June Arends]Telkamp of Webster City, who reportedly drowned in the Gulf of Mexico Thursday afternoon.

The youth was reportedly swimming with a friend, Craig Best, also of Webster City, when the tragedy occurred. Attempts to rescue the youth were unsuccessful, but the body was found Friday evening.

The services today were in charge of the Memorial Chapel of Ames with the Rev. Edward Masters officiating.
