Klaus Selheim Died Sunday

Klaus Selheim, 74, longtime resident of the Stanhope community, died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Runn Nursing home in Stratford where he had been a patient since July. He had been in failing health for several years.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Stanhope with the Rev. T.J. Alvestad officiating and with burial in Lawn Hill cemetery near Stanhope.

The body will lie in state at the Foster funeral home until 10 a.m. Friday when it will be taken to the church.

Klaus L. Selheim, son of Lars and Britax Selheim, was born Aug. 11, 1888 in Voss, Norway. He was reared and educated in Norway and was united in marriage there June 18, 1910, to Synnove Blomdal. In 1913, Mr. Selheim came to the United States, locating in Chicago. A year later, his wife and daughter joined him in the United States. In 1915, the family moved to Iowa, locating on a farm near Stanhope.

Mr. and Mrs. Selheim farmed in the Stanhope vicinity until 1932, when they moved into Stanhope where Mr. Selheim engaged in the produce business. He had been retired the past few years.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1935, by his parents and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by three daughters and two sons: Mrs. Orlin (Dorothea) Stark of Stanhope, Mrs. Richard (Lillian) Miller, Webster City, Mrs. Elmer (Charlotte) Long, New Bern, N.C., Lloyd Selheim, Denver, Colo., and Norman Selheim of Livonea, Mich.; 16 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Kristian Lenvig of Norway, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Selheim was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran church at Stanhope.
