MRS. SCHMIDT, AGE 85, DIES AT HOSPITAL

Broken Hip and Complications Cause Death of Kamrar Woman

Mrs. E.R. Schmidt, 85, of Kamrar, died at 9:20 p.m. yesterday at the hospital, death being caused by complications incident to old age. She had been at the hospital the past five weeks.

She had been in failing health since Feb. 22, when she fell at her home and suffered a fractured hip. At that time she was confined to the hospital for seven weeks.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Foster funeral home and at 1:30 p.m. at the Kamrar Methodist church. The Rev. H.F. Schmidt, of Stanhope, and the Rev. C.K. McNary, of Kamrar, will officiate and burial will be made in Lawn Hill cemetery at Stanhope.

Anna Katherine [cemetery records show A. Kathrina] Luft was born Sept. 23, 1855 in Warsaw, Ill., and her girlhood was spent in Kentucky, Ohio and Nebraska. She was married Aug. 30, 1884, to Eno [cemetery records show Enno] R. Schmidt at Germantown, Neb. In 1890 they moved to Salix, Iowa where Mr. Schmidt was depot agent. In 1900 they moved to Rickets, Iowa, where Mr. Schmidt was in the general merchandising business. In 1905 they moved to Moorhead where they lived a year and a half after which they moved to Gilbert. Two years later they moved to Kamrar where Mr. Schmidt owned and operated a general store.

One son died in infancy. Mr. Schmidt died Aug. 27, 1940.

She leaves the following children: Herman E.J., Marshalltown; Mrs. John Neal, Moorhead, Mrs. Oscar Kennedy, Dexter, Minn.; Mrs. William Kennedy, Clarion, and Mrs. D.R. Knight, Stanhope. There are 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Anna Murphy, lives in Lincoln, Neb., and a brother, Louis Luft, lives in Greybull, Wyo.

She was baptized in the Christian faith and was a member of the former Christian church at Kamrar.
