A.G. Satre, 80, a widely known former resident of the Stanhope community, died at 1 p.m. Saturday at Worthington, Minn.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran church at Stanhope with the Rev. Enoch Hall officiating and with burial in the Lawn Hill cemetery near Stanhope.

The body will be brought Wednesday morning from Minnesota directly to the church and will lie in state at the church from noon until time of services.

Amel George Satre, son of Ole and Gertrude Nelson Satre, was born Nov. 12, 1884 at Stanhope. He was reared and educated in the Stanhope community.

He was united in marriage in 1905, at Stanhope, to Hannah West and the couple farmed in the Stanhope community where Mr. Satre engaged in raising Chester White hogs. He was also active in auctioneer work and livestock sales. He also operated extensive farming operations. In 1926, the family moved to Kenyon, Minn., where Mr. Satre was employed with the department of collections of the Standard Oil Co.

His wife preceded him in death in 1927. In 1936, Mr. Satre moved to Worthington, Minn., where he established the Worthington Livestock Sales Co. He retired from business in 1959.

In 1937, Mr. Satre was united in marriage to Marie Ugland, and the couple had always since resided at Worthington.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Orville Satre of Santa Barbara, Calif.; one granddaughter; four brothers and one sister, Oscar Satre, Webster City, George Satre, Stanhope, Herman and Henry Satre, both of Sturges, S.D., and Mrs. Hank [a little hard to read] Jackson of Geneva, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lars Satre, and one sister, Mrs. Morgan (Annie) Hill.

Mr. Satre was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Stanhope and was a member of the First Lutheran church at Worthington.
