Elizabeth Allen nee Lucas was born on the twentieth of November, 1829 in Wayne county, Ind., and died November seventh, 1904 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. D.J. Knight, living in this city, she having lived 74 years, 11 months and 7 days.

She moved to Iowa in the year 1861 and became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church during the early part of her life since which time she has remained a consistent member.

In the year 1846 on Oct. 1st she was married to Samuel J. Ritter. Nine children were born to them seven girls and two boys.

The funeral was held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday Nov. 9, 1904, at the M.E. church. The services being conducted by Rev. G.W. Bennett of this place after which the remains were taken to the Clear Lake cemetery.
