Jerry Holtkamp age 72 of Williams died on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at his home. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williams with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 P.M. Tuesday at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williams. The Surls Funeral Home in Williams is in charge of arrangements.

Jerald Samuel Holtkamp was born on October 27, 1944 in Webster City, Iowa, the son of Aloysius and Johanna (Mohrfeld) Holtkamp. He went to the Williams High School through his junior year and graduated from the Northeast Hamilton High School in Blairsburg. On September 25, 1976 Jerry was united in marriage to Jan Allinson at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williams. Jerry farmed all of his life. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williams, he was involved with the Williams Benefit, and was a member of the Iowa Falls Elks Club B.P.O.E. Lodge #1674. Jerry enjoyed working on old tractors especially the John Deere 4020’s. He was a popular stock car driver in the 70s & 80s racing all over dirt tracks in the state of Iowa and was inducted into the Hamilton County Speedway Racing Hall of Fame in 2004. Jerry loved to watch NASCAR, listening and watching the Cubs and in

November he was finally able to witness the Cubs win a World Series for the first time. He also enjoyed road trips to look at crops, sitting on the deck looking over the farm, and his beloved Labrador retrievers; Yogi, Babe, and Josey.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Jan; four sons, Clint Holtkamp of Williams, Trent Holtkamp of Brighton, Brent Holtkamp of Williams, and Darren Holtkamp of Dows; a daughter, Alison Holtkamp of Coralville; two sisters, LaVerna Larson of Iowa City and Mary Lou Dailey and her husband, Don of Mitchell, S.D.; three brothers, Dick Holtkamp and his wife, Cindy of Omaha, AR., Dan Holtkamp and his wife, Pam of Newton, and Larry Holtkamp and his wife, Janet of Webster City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jim Holtkamp; and three sisters, Gloria Evenson, Betty (Becky) Tjaden, and Corrine Kelly.
