Saturday Mail, Stanhope, Iowa, Saturday, February 28, 1903

In loving remembrance of Floyd Philp, little son of Mr. and Mrs. James [Mina Snyder] Philp, who died February 20, 1903 aged 7 years 10 months and 13 days.

Dearest Floyd, thou hast left us,
And thy loss we deeply feel,
But we know he's safe with Jesus,
Who can all our sorrows heal.

Father, mother, sisters, brother,
Weep not, but do prepare
To meet him in that celestial city.
Where there'll be no parting there.

He was a darling little boy,
Was with us a few short years,
When the angel of death came,
And left a home so drear.

Can it be the solemn casket
Holds the little form we love?
And if all are faithful here,
We know we'll meet above.

How much we miss him here
Language cannot express
None but the parents bereft
Can know the loneliness.

And what we know not now
We shall hereafter know,
For we believe it was Thy hand
That dealt the dreadful blow.

The resurrection morn
Is drawing swiftly near,
When Christ, who is our hope and life,
Shall in the clouds appear.

Our loved ones then shall rise
With shouts of victory
Rejoicing in eternal life
And immortality.
