Darlene Van De Pol, 68, of Chandler, AZ, a former Stanhope resident, died Friday, Feb. 13, 1998 at her home. Funeral services will be at the Foster Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998 with Rev. Mike Morgan officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Hill Cemetery, southeast of Stanhope. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and prior to the service on Thursday.

Darlene Carol Maifeld, daughter of Kelly and Caroline Siefken Maifeld, was born Feb. 25, 1929 at Allison. She graduated from Allison high school and attended UNI. She taught in rural schools. On May 17, 1947 she married Dennis E. Van De Pol. The couple resided in the Stanhope area. In 1963, they moved to Stanhope. She had been employed at Hove Truck Line for several years and also worked for Busing Highway Marking of Stanhope. Mr. Van De Pol died in 1983. She then resided at Nevada for a year and had resided in Chandler for the past seven years.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Keith and Helen Jean Van De Pol of Ames, Thomas and Jo Van De Pol of Ogden, Gary and Carla Van De Pol of Fort Dodge, Robert Van De Pol of Ames, Dennis and Jackie Van De Pol of Scottsdale, AZ, daughters and sons-in-law, Carole Range of Webster City, Janelle and Tom Sullivan of Gilbert, AZ, Deanne and Kelly Popp of Roland, 15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, sisters; Ivadeen Maifeld of Cedar Rapids, Luvera Crystal of Manchester, Donna DeBower of Audubon, Beth Bailey of Denver, CO, brother Don Maifeld of Cedar Falls, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Gail Range in 1989, and a brother, Orville Maifeld.

She was a former member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Stanhope.
