Mrs. Fred (Flossie) Vogelsang, 81, a longtime Stanhope resident, died Wednesday morning at Crestview Manor, where she had lived for the past several years.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Christian Church in Stanhope with Dr. Charles D. McKinsey officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Hill Cemetery in Stanhope.

Friends may call at the Foster Funeral home after 1 p.m. Thursday and until 9:30 a.m. Saturday when the casket will be taken to the church.

Florence Smith, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gustavis Smith, was born Oct. 22, 1899, at Marshall, Minn. She was placed in an orphanage home in Des Moines at the age of seven and was later reared by Mr. and Mrs. E.S. Grimes at Davis City where she grew up and was educated.

When she was 23 she moved to Stanhope and was employed at a café for 10 years. She was married Sept. 16, 1933 to William Frederick Vogelsang and the couple lived in Stanhope.

She was preceded in death by her husband May 22, 1965.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ida Thornburg of Winterset; several nieces; and a nephew, Max Eppard of Kamrar.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.

She was a member of the Christian Church in Stanhope.
