Newspaper clipping in scrapbook for Lawn Hill Cemetery, Stanhope, Iowa obituaries

Ed Ulrick, 77, longtime resident of the Stanhope and Stratford communities, died at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Hamilton county hospital where he had been a patient the past six weeks. He had been in failing health the past year.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Lutheran church in Stratford with the Rev. Lawrence Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Hill cemetery at Stanhope. The body will lie in state at the Foster funeral home until noon Thursday, when it will be taken to the church.

Ed Ulrick, son of John and Caroline Ulrick, was born July 4, 1881, on a farm near Stratford. He was reared and educated in the Stratford community.

He was united in marriage to Minnie Peterson in September, 1906. Mr. and Mrs. Ulrick farmed near Stratford for several years, then moved to a farm near Stanhope, where they resided for 15 years. They then returned to the Stratford community, the family home since.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1936; by one son, Edwin, in 1935; by one granddaughter, Beverly Ulrick, who died at the age of 19 months; by his parents and one brother, Wally.

Surviving are two daughters and three sons, Mrs. Dale (Vernice) Stoner of Boone, Mrs. Calvin (Mary) Bird of Des Moines, Art Ulrick of Litchfield, Minn., Levi Ulrick of Des Moines and LaVern Ulrick of Stratford; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Elmer Ulrick of Webster City, and one sister, Mrs. Julia Gabrielson of Paton, Iowa.

Mr. Ulrick was baptized in the Lutheran faith.
