Funeral services for Emma J. Teig, 98, will be Saturday, Jan. 23 at 1:30 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Stanhope with Rev. Solomonson officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today until 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

A former longtime Stanhope resident, she died today, Thursday, Jan. 21 at the Stratford Care Center.

Emma Josephine West, daughter of Thomas and Martha Erickson West, was born Sept. 13, 1889 near Rosendale in Hamilton County. She was educated in rural schools. In 1906, she moved to Summit, S.D. with her family.

She married Martin Teig on May 28, 1913 at Summit. The couple returned to Iowa, farming in the Story City and Radcliffe areas. In 1925, they moved to a farm east of Stanhope.

She entered the Stratford Care Center in September of 1985 and was preceded in death by her husband in November of 1986.

Survivors are three sons, Mervin of Mason City, Everett of Jewell and Tilford of Stanhope; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, two granddaughters, four brothers and five sisters.

She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and was a life member of ALCW of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
