Dorothea Stark, 78, Stanhope, died Tuesday, Feb. 6 at the Hamilton County Hospital in Webster City. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanhope, Rev. Neal Solomonson officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn hill Cemetery, southeast of Stanhope. Visitation at the Foster Funeral home in Webster City will be after 4 p.m. today.

Dorothea Selheim, daughter of Klaus and Synnova Blomdal Selheim, was born April 23, 1911 in Bergen, Norway. At the age of 3, she moved with her family to the United States. The family resided in Chicago, Ill., for a short time, and later moved to Hamilton County. She was a graduate of Stanhope High School and Drake University in Des Moines. She taught country school in Hamilton County for three years. She married Orlin J. Stark on June 18, 1937 in Stanhope. The couple resided in Stanhope, where Mrs. Stark taught school from 1956 to 1977.

She is survived by her husband, Orlin J. Stark, Stanhope; two daughters and one son, Shirley (Mrs. Travis) Jorde, Rochester, Minn.; Carol (Mrs. Don) Neal, Granada Hills, Calif.; and James Stark, Golden, Colo; six grandchildren; two sisters and one brother, Lillian Miller, West Des Moines; Charlotte (Mrs. Elmer) Long, New Bern, N.C.; Lloyd Selheim, Denver, Colo.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son Samuel and a brother.

Mrs. Stark was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Stanhope, where she taught and served as superintendent of Sunday School. She was instrumental in the founding of the Stanhope Library, where she served as volunteer librarian and later as librarian. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors and was a 4-H leader for many years.
