Orlin Stark, 91, Stanhope, died Monday, Sept. 8, 1997 at the Hamilton Hospital in Webster City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanhope with Rev. Kim Wills officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Hill Cemetery, southeast of Stanhope. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m. and prior to the service at the church.

Orlin John Stark, son of Victor and Lilly (Sorenson) Stark, was born Aug. 18, 1906 on a farm north of Stanhope. He attended school at Grimes - Fairview rural school, Stanhope, Williams, Grove City, Minn., and graduated from Litchfield, Minn. High School in 1925. On June 18, 1937 he married Dorothea Selheim at Stanhope. The couple resided at Stanhope where he operated Stark Repair Shop, an automotive and farm equipment repair shop. His wife preceded him in death in February of 1990. During World War II, Mr. Stark was employed in defense work at Lawrence, Kan., and Kearney, Neb.

He is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Shirley and Travis Jorde, Rochester, Minn., and Carol Neal, Granada Hills, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, James and Diane Stark, Golden, Colo.; grandchildren, AnnaKarine Dowlen, Dorothea Synnove Arin, Weston and David Jorde and Marin and Troy Stark; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Jolynn Dowlen and Noah and Hannah Arin; brother, Weldon Stark, Stanhope; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Stark in 1948; his parents; brothers, Marion, Ernest and Glen Stark; sister, Martha Vaubel; and son-in-law, Don Neal.

Mr. Stark was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Our Savior's Men's Club, Sunday Morning Bible Fellowship, and Stanhope Senior Citizens Club. He was a Senior Citizen volunteer, and was honored as senior citizen of the year in Hamilton County. With his wife, they were strong supporters of the Stanhope Day Care Center.
