OBITUARY OF ADAM KEPLER

Adam Kepler was born May 13th, 1833 in Stark county, Ohio, and died at his home in Stanhope Iowa, August 4th, 1917, aged 84 years, 2 months and 21 days.

He was married to Elizabeth Myers March 30, 1858, and in April of the same year they moved to Iowa, settling on a farm northwest of Stanhope on the Boone river, where they lived until they moved to the home in Stanhope which they occupied at the time of his death. Eleven children were born to them. Six died in infancy and five remain to mourn their loss. Mrs. Kepler passed on before some seven weeks ago.

Mr. Kepler was one of the early settlers of the county, coming here when settlers were few and neighbors were far apart.

He joined the Methodist church in early life and always maintained his Christian life. Even after God laid His hand on him seven years ago with a paralytic stroke, from which he never recovered, keeping his bed all of the seven years, he still gave to the various benevolences of the church.

The funeral was held from the M.E. church in Stanhope August 6th, and by wish of the deceased was conducted by Rev. G.H. Dick, a lifelong friend of the family. He was assisted by the pastor. Interment was made in Stanhope [Lawn Hill Cemetery] cemetery.
