Janice Kay Peterson, 61, of Osceola died of cancer Friday at Clarke County Hospital there. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Osceola, of which she was a member. Burial will be at Lawn Hill Cemetery in Stanhope.

Mrs. Peterson was born in Webster City and had lived there and in Boone, Stanhope, Ames, Grand River and Murray before moving to Osceola eight years ago. She was a retired bookkeeper with Friday Insurance Agency in Osceola and enjoyed reading, sewing and quilting.

She is survived by her husband, Geryle; a son, Jeff of Willis Point, Texas; a daughter, Diana Wilkey of Gretna, Neb.; her parents, Robert and Lillian Gumtau of Boone; and three grandchildren.

Kale Funeral Home in Osceola is handling arrangements.
