Martha Peterson, 97, of Webster City, died Saturday, January 15, 2005 at Crestview Senior Living. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Stanhope Parish with Rev. Suzie Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Hill Cemetery, southeast of Stanhope. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 11:00 a.m. at the church on Thursday.

Martha Carolyn Lestina, daughter of Joseph and Mary Nekvinda Lestina, was born January 18, 1907 on a farm northeast of Boone. She attended a rural school in that area. On March 22, 1928 she married Lloyd Andrew Peterson at Boone. The couple farmed southeast of Stanhope near the Hamilton-Boone county line. Mr. Peterson died December 28, 1974. She resided on the family farm until 1980 when she moved to Stanhope. Martha had resided at Crestview Senior Living since May of 1994.

Mrs. Peterson is survived by a daughter, Mary Pratt of Auburn, a son, James Peterson of Des Moines; grandchildren, Randall and Peggy Pratt of Tucson, Az, Brian and Lori Pratt of Round Rock, TX; 2 nieces and 3 nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Clifford Pratt; her parents; brothers, Joseph and Arthur Lestina.

She was a member of the Stanhope Parish, the Town and Country Garden Club of Webster City and the Stanhope Senior Citizens Club.
