Archie Peterson, 64, widely known Hamilton county farmer, died at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames at 1 a.m. today. He had been a patient at the hospital the past 10 weeks. He had been in ill health the past year and a half.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Methodist church in Stanhope with the Reverends Marden Williams and Reed Richards officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Hill cemetery near Stanhope. The body will lie in state at the Foster funeral home until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday when it will be taken to the church.

Archie Raymond Peterson, son of Andrew and Jennie Peterson, was born March 5, 1899 at Stanhope. He attended the Stanhope schools and grew to young manhood in that community.

He was united in marriage Aug. 17, 1921 to Claire Groves, and the couple had made their home on the farm where Mr. Peterson was born for 42 years of their married life.

To this union three children were born: Maynard Duane Peterson, Branson, Mo., Mrs. Eugene (Doris) Markland, Fremont, Neb., and Norma Peterson, Madison, Wis.

Mr. Peterson was a member of the Stanhope Methodist church and was active in church work as long as his health permitted. He served on the church board of trustees for many years. He was a member of the Stanhope Lions club, being a past president of the club, and he was also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.

He had served faithfully for 20 years as president of the board of directors of the Farmers Co-op Elevator at Stanhope.

Mr. Peterson is survived by his wife, Claire; the three children; five grandchildren and one brother, Lloyd Peterson of Boone.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mrs. Earl (Alice) Davis.
