Arnold B. Miller, 72, a lifelong Stanhope resident, died Wednesday, July 12, at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames. He had been in failing health for 1-1/2 years. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 15, at 3 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanhope, Rev. Neal Solomonson officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Hill Cemetery, southeast of Stanhope. Visitation at the Foster Funeral home in Webster City is after 6 p.m. today until 1:30 p.m. Saturday, when the casket will be taken to the church.

Arnold Bernard Miller, son of Magnus and Ellen Wike Miller, was born Sept. 3, 1916 in Gilbert. He was educated in Stanhope, where he graduated from Stanhope High School in 1938. He married Myrtle Okland on Sept. 20, 1940 in Randall. The couple resided in Stanhope, where Mr. Miller was in the trucking and shelling business for 45 years. He retired 1-1/2 years ago.

He is survived by his wife Myrtle, Stanhope; two sons, Ronald Miller, Shenandoah; and Dennis Miller, Fort Collins, Colo.; one daughter, Janet Beach, Kansas City, Mo.; six grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters, Clarence and Clifton Miller, Story City; Frank Miller, San Diego, Calif.; Arlene (Mrs. Ed) Wirth, Roland; and Ruth (Mrs. Wesley) Warren, Nevada.

Mr. Miller was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanhope, the Stanhope Lion's Club, and was a former Stanhope Commercial Club member.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Savior's Lutheran Church or to the American Cancer Society.
