Lorraine Jans, 68, Stanhope, died April 13, 1996 at the Stratford Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanhope, with Rev. Tim Maybee officiating. Burial will be at Lawn Hill Cemetery, southeast of Stanhope. Visitation will be at Foster Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Tuesday until 8 a.m. Wednesday, when the casket will be taken to the church.

Lorraine Eleanor Law, daughter of Howard and Eleanor Oberhelman Law, was born Nov. 13, 1927 in Manson. She graduated from Stratford High School in 1945. She had been employed in Des Moines and at Webster City Federal. On Feb. 25, 1951, she married Richard Jans in Duncombe. The couple farmed for one year east of Kamrar and in 1952, they moved to a farm south of Stanhope.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Jane Jans and David and Cindy Jans, all of Stanhope; grandchildren, Kevin, Derek, Kelli, Spencer, Kimberly and Ella Jans; brother, Ed Law, Fort Dodge; sister, Lois Rhodes, Duncombe; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in December of 1991; her parents; and a brother, Mervin Law.

She was active in circle work, had been a Sunday school teacher, and was active in many areas of her church.
