Gregory Eugene Young, son of Ray and Marlene (Gabrielson) Young, was born September 8, 1956 in Boone, Iowa. He died March 19, 2017 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa at the age of 60 years.

Greg grew up in Stratford, Iowa and graduated from Stratford High School in 1974. In 1984, he was united in marriage to Trudy Peterson in Ridgeport, IA. They were the proud parents of two children, Jessica and Casey. They made their home in Stratford, Iowa. Greg and Trudy later divorced in 2009 but still remained close friends.

Greg worked for almost 30 years as a Crane Operator for the railroad. He later went to work for Electrolux in Webster City for 10 years until they closed. He loved to go fishing, driving around the country side enjoying nature, and hunting for asparagus. He especially loved to spend time with his grandsons, Kyler and Abel.

Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents, Martin and Irma Gabrielson, and Amelia and Roy Young; as well as several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his children: Jessica Young of Stratford, IA, and Casey (Brooke) Young of Grimes, IA; 2 grandsons: Kyler and Abel; his parents, Ray and Marlene Young of Stratford, IA; 1 brother Marty (Karen) Young of Stratford, IA; numerous aunts and uncles; other relatives; and many friends.

Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 901 Moore St, Stratford, IA 50249 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Memorials are suggested to the family to be used at their discretion. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date on April 1, 2017 at the Vintage Parlor in Stratford, IA with the time yet to be determined.
