Inez Simonson

November 6, 1923 ~ February 24, 2017

Inez Marie Simonson, 93 of Stratford, Iowa passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017. Inez was born on November 6, 1923 in Stratford, Iowa, the daughter of Carl Hjalmar and Marie Andersson Fostberg.

Inez graduated from Stratford High School in 1941. On November 11, 1942, Inez was united in marriage to Dale Simonson at the Stratford Lutheran Church Parsonage. She was a Homemaker and worked at the Stratford library for several years. Dale and Inez spent their married life farming near Boone and Stratford.

Inez was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Boone and the First Baptist Church in Stratford. She was an active member of the WMS for many years.

Inez was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harold and Raymond; sister, Margit Dutcher; grandson, Paul Brian Thompson; son-in-law, Rodney “Rick” Harris; and daughter-in-law, Martha Simonson.

She is survived by her husband Dale Simonson of Stratford, IA; her children: Gary (Marilyn) Simonson of Fort Dodge, IA, Janet (Paul) Thompson of Des Moines, IA, Carol Harris of Stratford, IA, John Simonson of Stratford, IA, and Darlene (Stewart) Galloway of Walford, IA; 18 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; other relatives; and friends.

Funeral Services were held 10:30 am Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Stratford, IA. Interment was at South Marion Cemetery, Hamilton County, Iowa. The family greeted friends on Monday, February 27, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Stratford
