Funeral services for Betty M. (Mrs. John M.) Ellis, 57, of Stanhope, will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church in Stanhope with the Rev. William Van Dam officiating. Interment will be in the Lawn Hill Cemetery at Stanhope.

Mrs. Ellis died suddenly Tuesday evening at a Duluth, Minn., hospital, after being hospitalized for only a brief time.

Friends may call until 10 a.m. Friday at the Foster Funeral Home at which time the casket will be taken to the church.

Betty M. Knorr, daughter of William and Laura Keller Knorr, was born Sept. 27, 1923 at Council Bluffs. The family moved to Des Moines where she was reared and educated. She graduated from North High School there and was married to John M. Ellis May 18, 1946 at Des Moines.

The couple continued to live in Des Moines until 1963 at which time they moved to Stanhope where they have owned and operated the Stanhope Hardware Store.

Survivors include her husband, John M. Ellis; three daughters and one son, Diana (Mrs. Walter) Robb of Hayward, Wis.; Michael Ellis of Stanhope; Carol (Mrs. Mike) Thompson of Webster City and Stacey Ellis of Des Moines; four grandchildren; her mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. M.W. Perkins of Des Moines; two sisters and one brother, Dean Knorr of Des Moines, Shirley (Mrs. Edward) Wright of Tulsa, Okla., and Ferne (Mrs. Robert) Long of Phoenix, Ariz.

Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by her father and one sister.

She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Stanhope.
