Gilbert Sprow, 59, a longtime Webster City resident, died Tuesday night at the University Hospitals in Iowa City where he had been a patient the past month.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran church with the Rev. Raymond Roden officiating and with burial in the Zion cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon Thursday to 9 a.m. Saturday, at which time the casket will be taken to the church.

Gilbert Sprow, son of Charles and Sadie Swensen Sprow, was born Aug. 25, 1921 near Kamrar. He was reared and educated near Kamrar and attended the rural schools in that community.

He was married to Margie Harvey on Nov. 28, 1959, at Des Moines. The couple lived in Webster City for many years and was formerly employed by the Morton Frozen Foods Co. For the past 12 years he had been employed as a custodian at the Crestview Manor Convalescent center.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Suzie, Webster City, two sons, Gilbert Sprow, Jr., Webster City and Scott Sprow, Woodward. Also surviving are three brothers, Guy Sprow, Webster City, Sophus Sprow, Webster City and Clarence Sprow, a patient at the Veterans Hospital at Knoxville; two sisters, Mrs. Arbey (Selma) Lundien of Webster City and Mrs. Henry (Myrtle) Redling of Jewell; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church.
