WILLIAMS - Funeral services for Harry J. Solberg, 46, mayor of Williams for the past year, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic church with the Rev. F.J. McEnany officiating and with burial in St. Mary's cemetery.

Wake services will be held at 8 p.m. tonight at the Scott-Surls Funeral chapel in Williams.

Mr. Solberg died suddenly early yesterday morning at his home in Williams. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

Harry James Solberg, son of Elmer and Nellie Keena Solberg, was born Aug. 7, 1922 at South Pekin, Ill. He was graduated from high school at Jewell, Iowa.

During World War II, he served for four years in the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific aboard the battleship, North Carolina.

He was married to Irene Schweppe at St. Mary's church in Williams on Nov. 22, 1947, and the couple had resided in the Williams community the past 14 years. He had been employed many years by the Chicago and North Western railroad, serving as conductor until his health forced him to retire.

Surviving are his wife; two children, Eileen Ann Solberg and Robert James Solberg, both of Williams, four brothers, Arthur, Glen and Earl Solberg, all of Jewell; and Raymond Solberg of Webster City.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church.

Mr. Solberg was a member of the American Legion post at Williams and had been taking a leading part in the centennial preparations.
