Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Jep N. Smith, longtime Webster City residents, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral home with Robert Hadaway officiating and burial in Graceland.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Smith died suddenly yesterday noon following heart attacks suffered at their home.

Jep N. Smith, son of Samuel Wilson and Catherine Porter Smith, was born Nov. 27, 1887, at Dover Hill, Ind. In 1905, he came to Iowa, locating in Hamilton county.

He was united in marriage March 5, 1909 to Myrtle A. Jones, and the couple farmed in Hamilton county until 1913 when they moved to Minnesota. They returned to Hamilton county in 1929.

Mr. Smith later worked at the former H.A. Selby Co. and Fairmont Foods in Webster City, retiring in 1955.

The couple had resided at their present home, 415 Pleasant St., since 1936.

Survivors include three sons and three daughters: James M. Smith, Loves Park, Ill., Eldon G. Smith, Webster City, Kenneth W. Smith, San Fernando, Calif., Mrs. Amos (Billie) Swenson, Mrs. Webster (Eva) Lavender and Madalene Smith, all of Webster City; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother and one sister, Claude S. Smith of Eagle Grove and Mrs. Mae Johnson, Webster City.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter and one grandson, his parents, one brother and one sister.
