Ellsworth boy drowns in Canada

Dirk Doolittle, three-year-old son of Dennis and Pam Doolittle of Ellsworth, drowned Thursday while vacationing with his family at Nestor Falls, Can.

Full details of the tragedy were not immediately available this morning pending the return of the family this afternoon. The family was reportedly flying back to Iowa from Canada.

Funeral services are pending and will be announced later by the Foster Funeral home.

Dirk Doolittle was born Jan. 11, 1979, at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames, the son of Dennis and Pam Holt Doolittle.

He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Eric, 8, and Grant, 5; his grandparents, Don and Opal Doolittle of Webster City and George and Agnes Jenison of Belmond, and a great-grandmother, Mrs. Bertha Jansen of Webster City.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Clarence (Buss) Holt, formerly of Blairsburg.

Funeral services for Dirk D. Doolittle, 3-1/2, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Doolittle of rural Ellsworth, were held at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic church in Williams.

The Mass of the Angels was con-celebrated by Father Clarence Kruse, Father Joseph Sullivan and Father Louis Zee, with burial being in the St. Mary's cemetery at Williams.

Scripture services were held at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Foster Funeral home.

The boy drowned Thursday evening while vacationing with his parents at Nestor Falls, Canada.

Dirk D. Doolittle was born Jan. 11, 1979, at Ames.

He is survived by his parents, Dennis and Pam Holt Doolittle; two brothers, Eric, 8, and Grant, 5; the grandparents, Don and Opal Doolittle of Webster City and George and Agnes Jenison of Belmond, and the great-grandmother, Bertha Jansen of Webster City.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Clarence (Buss) Holt.

He was baptized at St. Mary's Catholic church.
