Idres M. Hill, 93, of Stanhope died August 10, 2006 at St. Lukes Medical Center at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with Rev. Joe Lambert officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Hill Cemetery, southeast of Stanhope. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center at Webster City and after 12:00 p.m. at the church on Monday.

Idres Marlin Hill, son of Morgan and Anna Satre Hill, was born August 25, 1912 on a farm southeast of Stanhope. He attended Clear Lake rural school # 2 and graduated from Stanhope Consolidated School in 1930. He also attended Webster City Junior College. On November 29, 1933, he married Florence Mae Kent at the Lutheran parsonage at Stanhope. The couple farmed east of Stanhope and northwest of Stanhope near Sharkey's Hill for the next 4 years. Following the death of his father, he moved to the family farm at Lakins Grove Avenue in 1941. Along with farming, Idres was district manager for Crow's Seed Corn Company and also sold Federal Crop Insurance.

Mr. Hill is survived by his wife, Florence; sons and daughters-in-law, Kent and Betty Hill, Kay and Shirley Hill, all of Cedar Rapids; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Alan Arends of Albert Lea, MN; Jacqueline and Tom Bailey, Karma and Kirk Bailey, all of Kalona; Karla and Robert Brown of Marion; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; sister, Anna Mae Brinton of Belmond; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Seth Bailey; sisters, Fern Hill, Gladys Pierson and Olive Fardal.

Idres was a lifelong member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church at Stanhope and a former township rural school board member. He enjoyed playing duplicate bridge, his 27 winters spent in Arizona, reading and horseback riding. He especially loved his life spent with Florence and his family. He was very proud to say he lived 90 of his 94 years on the family farm.
