Survived by daughters Linda (Steve) Jaeger, Nancy (Michael) Leitch all of South St. Paul, and daughter of choice, Becky Kepler. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Celeste (Jim) Gardner, Stephanie (Brian) Sparks, Michelle (Christopher) Lehmann, Sean (Paget) Leitch, Kirk Leitch, Jennifer (David) Wilson, and Scott (Misty) Kepler. Also, survived by 21 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Donald Flygstad, her sister,Beth Lastine, and sister-in-law Dena Flygstad.

Mildred was an elementary school teacher, teaching first in one room country schools (starting at age 18) then in the Fort Dodge schools until her retirement in 1977. After her retirement she concentrated on her genealogies and family histories for both hers and Elmer’s families, which are remarkable records. Her other great passion was her greeting card ministry. Over many, many years, she sent greeting cards to family, extended family, friends and neighbors(sending as many as 3,000 pieces of mail a year). She signed her cards “God loves you and so do I (we, when Elmer was living).” This ministry touched and blessed so very many lives.

On Saturday, January 21, 2017, Mildred celebrated her 100th birthday with a grand birthday party attended by almost 200 people, which she enjoyed very, very much, and was her main goal for the last several months.

She was a very special, loving, giving, amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, relative and friend, who greatly missed by all.

Visitation will be Friday, February 3, 2017, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City, Iowa. Funeral services will be at the Webster City Church of Christ at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 with viewing one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred.
