Donald Struchen, 87, of Webster City, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church at 1229 Kathy Lane in Webster City with Reverend Mike Kroona officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Donald David Struchen, son of Carl and Harriet Johnson Struchen, was born February 2, 1929 in Alburnett, Iowa. He graduated from Alburnett Consolidated Schools. Donald married Shirley Ann Jackson on Dec 25, 1950. To this union a son, David Struchen, was born. Shirley preceded him in death in 1967. In 1968, he married Mary Alice Hovland and gained three stepchildren. She preceded him in death in 2009.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1953, stationed at Kessler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS. Following his discharge from the service, the family moved to Adel in 1953 working for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, residing there until 1958 when they moved to Webster City. Donald became a partner with his brother, Norman, in Home Appliance before becoming the owner of Home Furnishings. Following his retirement from Home Furnishings, he went into real estate development.

Donald is survived by his children, David (Nicole) Struchen of Jewell, Mike (Dorene) Nott of North Liberty, Laura Nott of San Juan Capistrano, CA; Dave Nott of Belleair, FL; grandchildren; Gabrielle Struchen, Jennifer Cross, Rebecca Bratton and Christopher Nott; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jonathan Cross; brother, Jerry Struchen of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Mary Kroeger of Cedar Rapids and Shirley Marsh of Marion.

In addition to his wives; he was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carline Skallerup; brothers, Eugene and Norman Struchen.

Donald was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Webster City Rotary Club and American Legion.
