Lois Brinkema, 85, of Webster City, died Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Van Diest Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with Robert Orr officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Lois Marie Brinkema, daughter of Charles and Ethel (Kelley) Johnson, was born April 13, 1931 in Algona. She attended Algona Public Schools. On July 23, 1963 she married Ernest Junior Brinkema in Albert Lea, MN. The couple resided in Kamrar. Lois had worked for Dermand's Café for many years. Ernest died in 1988.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Ethel Jean Graham of Grimes; her son Matthew Paul (Christine) Johnson of Fresno, CA; five grandsons, Stuart, Jason, Brian, Scott and Cooper; granddaughter, Hadi; six great-grandchildren Patrick, William, Ada, Scarlett, Taylor, Izzy and Phoenix; brother, Robert Johnson of Clear Lake; sisters, Virginia Copas-Baxter of Mason City, and Shirley (Robert) Metzger of Ames; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Darrell, Curtis, Rodney, and Kenneth Johnson; sisters, Darlene, Joan and Marian Johnson, Janell Kickbush and Elizabeth Byrne; and dear friend, Virgil Bryan.
Lois had a love for music and dancing. She was a community volunteer and enjoyed searching for a tearoom in every community. Lois enjoyed family gatherings, having coffee with her friends at HyVee and spending time with her longtime friend, Virgil. Blessed be the memory of Lois Brinkema.
