Hio “Bud” Simpson, 96, of Webster City, died Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Southfield Wellness Community. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with Pastor Richard Laird, officiating. Burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the funeral home.

Hio Joel Simpson, was born October 20, 1920 in rural Kamrar, the son of George and Mary Walterman Simpson. He attended rural schools and graduated from Lincoln High in 1939. He married Arlene Buckles on August 4, 1946 at the Universalist Church in Webster City. He served his country in the United States Air Force receiving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Bud was employed at Johnson Furniture Store until its closing. He was a supervisor at Beam Industries from 1968 until his retirement in 1984. After his retirement he managed the tree dump site for Webster City.

Bud is survived by his wife, Arlene of Webster City; children, Patricia (Fred) Foster of Staunton, VA; Jill (Don) Christoffersen of Kimballton; grandchildren, Melinda (Brett) Kastler Wills, Katie (Randy Mains) Christoffersen, Travis (Kelly) Christoffersen; great-grandchildren, Aaron Wills, Bryan Wills, Eva Christoffersen; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-infancy, Martha K. Simpson; brothers; Floyd, George, Marion, Robert; sister, Irene; half-brothers, Alfred and Harley.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #191, member and Past President of Diamond K Kiwanis. Bud was a volunteer driver for the Department of Human Services and Meals on Wheels.
