D.C. Cook Passes Away
On Thursday afternoon, May 6th, occurred the death of Dick C. Cook at his home in Kamrar. The deceased had been ill and suffered more or less for the length of 4 years though he kept up his business as harness maker and worked when ever possible. About a month ago he decided to sell the shop and accordingly on Saturday just 3 weeks ago the sale took place.
Dick C. Cook was born October 30, 1875 in Olga County, Ill. He remained at this place until he was 14 years old when with his parents he came to Iowa and settled in Grundy County. It was in this vicinity in later years that he became acquainted with Miss Maria Hanisch and on October 14, 1908 they were united in marriage at Webster City. In November Mr. and Mrs. Cook came to Kamrar to live and here six years of married life was spent together. To this union 3 children were born, one son, Henry, and two daughters, Frances and Hattie. Besides the children and his beloved wife, he leaves two brothers, one of Grundy Center, and one of Kanawha, and one sister, of Kanawha.
The funeral services were held at the house Saturday at 1 o'clock and at the German Presbyterian Church, of which he was a member, at 2 o'clock. Rev. Gerdes, the German Pastor, officiating. The following six business men of Kamrar acted as pall bearers: Guy Jaycox, Henry Cordes, Ben Cordes, O.L. Gilbert, Chris Nelson and Henry Hassebrock. The remains were laid in the German cemetery.
The Kamrar Record extends sympathy to the wife and children in their hour of sorrow.
