MRS. R.F. BECK PASSES AWAY

Prominent and Well Known Woman Dies After Comparatively Short Illness.

FUNERAL SATURDAY

Born and Reared in This City and Lived Here all her Life.

Mrs. Robert F. Beck died this morning at the family home at 1514 Willson avenue. While it had been quite generally known for several days that her condition was serious, her passing at 8:15 o'clock this morning came as a distinct shock.

While Mrs. Beck had not been in rugged health for some five years, it had only been within the past two weeks that her condition had developed to a point where little hope for her ultimate recovery was held out. It was just two weeks ago today that she was taken to her bed. She had developed cerebro-spinal meningitis and so rapidly did this undermine her physical strength that she failed very fast day by day.

During all her ill health and last sickness, she had been given the advantage of the very best that medical science and surgery could do. Several well known specialists were called into consultation and everything possible was done to relieve her condition.

Miss Helen F. Covil was the second daughter of Mrs. W.J. Covil, Ruth M. having died when about two years of age. Helen Covil was born in Webster City, Dec. 14, 1888 and graduated from the public schools here. She finished her education at Grinnell college and at Fairy Hall, Chicago, and had lived all her life in this city. She was married on June 9, 1915, to Dr. Robert F. Beck, also of this city.

Mrs. Beck had always been prominent and active in social circles of the city and also in the Congregational church, of which she had been a member since childhood. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Covil - the former of whom is dead - were earlier settlers in the city and prominent in all that made for the betterment and upbuilding of the community. Mrs. Beck was a charming woman, always cheerful and popular in the circles in which she moved. Her passing is a sad blow to her host of friends and the entire community has a deep feeling of sympathy for the sorrowing husband and mother.

The funeral will be held from the family home on Willson avenue Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. A.L. Eddy, of the Congregational church.
