Frederick (Fritz) Otteros, 67, Williams, died Wednesday, May 28, 1997 at Clarion Community Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Vernon Lutheran Church in rural Dows, with Rev. Glenn Kappelmann officiating. Burial will be in Vernon Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Elledge Funeral Home, Dows.
Frederick Andrew Otteros, son of Alfred and Elsie (Beyer) Otteros, was born Aug. 7, 1929 on the family farm in Vernon Township. He attended rural schools in Vernon Township, and later Dows High School. He was baptised and confirmed at Vernon Lutheran Church. On Feb. 15, 1947 he married Betty Joan Cawley at Kansas City, Mo. The couple have farmed their entire lives on the same farm he was born on. For the past 24 years they have spent the winter months living at Lake Havasu City, Ariz. This February they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; two sons and daughters-in-law, Martin and Deborah, Williams, and Kirby and Susan, Bastrop, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Candace and Craig Twedt, Williams, nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clesine and husband Andrew Caruth, Williams.
He was preceded in death by his father and a daughter, Celeste Shields.
