Ardian Hetland, age 88, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at his rural residence near Ellsworth, IA.

A time of visitation was held on Monday, June 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. The funeral service was held Monday, June 13, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jon Rollefson officiating. Burial followed in the Homewood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.

Ardian DeWayne Hetland was born on April 2, 1928 on a farm near Radcliffe, Iowa, to Silas and Beatrice (Hoffman) Hetland.
He received his education and graduated from Blairsburg High School and also attended Central Tech Institute in Kansas City.
He found his passion early, at the age of 9, working on the family farm. He served his country entering the U.S. Army from December 1950 to November 1952 during the Korean War. After his discharge from the Army, Ardian remained in the Army Reserves until March 1957, when he was honorably discharged.

On February 5, 1955, Ardian was united in marriage to Jeanne Flaherty in Nevada, Iowa. He continued to farm until the time of his death at his home.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth, where he taught Sunday School and the American Legion Post #59 in Story City, Iowa.

Those thankful for having shared his life include his wife Jeanne of Ellsworth; children Janeen Powers-Butson (Dale) of Hampton, Michele Mabee (Mark) of Story City, Lynet Fisher (David) of Ames and Kelly Hetland of Story City; four grandchildren Colt Powers (Kara), Mason Mabee, and Chester and Levi Fisher; four great-grandchildren Hope, Remington, Joseph and Lincoln Powers; along with numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Ardian was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Daryl Hetland and Boyd Hetland, two sisters in infancy, three grandchildren Logan and Afton Fisher, Ashley Mabee, and son-in-law J.C. Powers.
