Elizabeth Miller

Elizabeth "Libbie" Miller, 98, a longtime Webster City area resident, died Thursday afternoon, Aug. 23 at Crestview Manor Care Center. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Aug. 25 at 10 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, Dr. Charles W. Smith officiating. A family committal service will be held at Graceland Cemetery prior to the memorial service. Visitation at the Foster Funeral Home is after 2 p.m. today until 9 a.m. Saturday.

Elizabeth Jane Petersen, daughter of Rev. J.W. and Rachel (Weiland) Petersen, was born April 14, 1892 in McCook County, S.D. She was educated in South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa. She moved with her parents to Webster City in 1910, and was employed in the office of Dr. E.E. Richardson.

She married Ira Miller on April 9, 1913, in Webster City. For 21 years the couple farmed in the Mulberry Center area; and for 14 years, farmed in Fremont Township. They retired to Webster City in March 1951. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband in September 1955. She had resided at Crestview Manor since July 1985.

She is survived by two daughters, Ruth (Mrs. Carl) Elkin, and Maxine (Mrs. Grant) Anderson, both of Webster City; a son and daughter-in-law, Lyle and Betty Miller, Webster City; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and a sister, Grace (Mrs M.D.) Summerbell, Spencer.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Verne Miller in 1950; a great granddaughter; her parents; a brother and two sisters.

Mrs. Miller was a member of the Mulberry Center United Methodist Church, where she was Sunday School Supeintendent for 21 years. When moving to Webster City, she joined the Faith United Methodist Church. She was also active for many years in Farm Bureau Women.
