Frank A. Baber, 61, prominent Webster City businessman died suddenly at his home this morning with death being attributed to a heart attack.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic church with Rev. Father Edgar Kurt officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the Foster Funeral home.

Frank Baber, son of Elwood and Dora Grabner Baber, was born April 8, 1910, at Neodesha, Kan., where he was reared and educated. He farmed in that community until 1935 moving then to Joplin, Mo. where he was affiliated with the Nichols Wire and Steel Co.

He was united in marriage Jan. 15, 1939 to Dorothy Stewart and the couple resided in Joplin. In the fall of 1939, he was transferred to Mason City, Iowa, where he was salesman and manager for the Nichols Wire and Steel Co.

In November, 1946, the family moved to Webster City where Mr. Baber was in the implement business and later the automobile business, having the Baber Ford Co., Inc. for 15 years.

Since his retirement from Baber Ford Co., he had been employed by the Hamilton county board of supervisors in the care and recovery of alcoholics.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Jerome (Barbara) Mark of Cheyenne, Wyo., Mrs. Michael (Trudy) Donovan, New York City, N.Y., and Jacquelyn Baber, at home; three grandchildren, Michael, Suzanne and Stephannie Mark; two sisters, Mrs. R.C. (Agnes) Brown of Dallas, Texas, and Mrs. L.C. (Kathrine) Farmer of Joplin, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic church. He was the founder of the Webster City AA group in 1947, and served on the civil service commission of the city until he was elected in 1966 as a member of the Hamilton county hospital board of trustees.

He was a member of the Webster City Country club and the Moose lodge and a former member of the Rotary, Lions and Kiwanis service clubs.
