Rachel Freeman, 84, of Des Moines, died Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Webster City. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City with Reverend Lynn Gardner officiating. Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Rachel Rae Stearns, daughter of Frank and Mae Fern Hoiser Stearns was born on November 6, 1931 in Pocahontas County. She graduated from Manson Schools. She served her country in the United Stated Navy. On September 26, 1954, she married Harold Freeman in Plover. The couple made their home in Des Moines. She retired from the United States Postal Service.

Rachel is survived by her children; Randy (Hope) Freeman of Clive, Rae Jean Freeman of Eagle Grove, Rhonda Freeman of Wyoming; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, sisters, Connie Kraft of Goldfield, Joyce Sorenson of Goldfield, and Jackie Hudson of Fort Dodge.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and five sisters.

Rachel was a member of the Marquisville United Methodist Church in Des Moines. She enjoyed reading, cross stitch and gardening.
