Audrey Phelps, 89, of Ames, died Monday, February 29, 2016 at the Waterford at Ames Assisted Living. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center, with Pastor Darrell DeRadcliffe officiating.

Audrey Ilene McCoskey was born September 30, 1926 on a farm near Webster City, the daughter of Jason and Lillian Mae (Payne) McCoskey. She graduated from Blairsburg High School in 1945. She married Lee Phelps. He proceeded her in death in 1963. She worked in food service for the Kansas City Public Schools for over 30 years. Audrey was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of North Kansas City, Missouri.

Audrey is survived by her brothers; Wendell McCoskey of Haughton, LA, Jason (Carolyn) McCoskey Jr of Jewell; many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lee; son, Ronnie Phelps; sister-in-infancy, Margaret McCoskey; siblings, Warren and Lura McCoskey, Delores and Edwin Hill, Dorothy and Harley Mellinger; sister-in-law, Zelpha McCoskey and nephew, Howard Mellinger.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be donated to Care Initiatives Hospice at 7055 Vista Drive, West Des Moines, IA 50266. She will be missed by all who knew her, blessed be the memory of Audrey.
