Don Cook, 84, of Webster City, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016. Funeral services will be held at Foster's Funeral & Cremation Center on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Family will be present one hour prior to the service.

Donald Alan Cook was born March 29, 1932 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Cloyd and Wilma (Johnston) Cook. He graduated from Toledo High School in 1950 and attended Cornell College, in Mount Vernon, Iowa. He married Wanda Gregory on June 23, 1957 at the Tama Methodist church. He began his abstracting career at Tama County Abstract in Toledo, Iowa. In 1958, he moved to Webster City, Iowa, working for William A. Miller at Security Title & Loan. In 1984 he purchased the business and merged it with Hamilton County Abstract Company, creating Security Title & Abstract, Inc. which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2003. After retirement Don worked for several years at Grundy County Abstracting and later returned to Security Title & Abstract in Webster City, working part-time until his death.

Don is survived by his wife Wanda of Webster City; children, Steve (Jill) Cook of Perry, Lynn (Daniel) Darnold of Waverly; grandchildren, April (Craig) Olson, Elizabeth (Tom) Willoughby, Lauren Darnold, Nathaniel Darnold, Christian Darnold; great-grandson, Malcolm Olson, and many cousins. Don was proceeded in death by his parents.

Don was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge #176, A.F. & A.M., where he was a past Master, and the local Birthday Club. He was past President of the Iowa Land Title Association, and a member of American Land Title Association and Iowa Title Guaranty Division. He was also a former member of the Webster City Chamber of Commerce, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Lizard Creek Model Railroad Club. Most of all, Don enjoyed spending time with his family.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimers Association or Almost Home Humane Society of Northwest Iowa.
