Delores Arends, 87, of Webster City, died Thursday, May 19, 2016 at her home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Mike Kroona, officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.

Delores Jane Ehlert, daughter of Ed and Lena Boger Ehlert was born February 6, 1929 in Denison. She graduated from Stanhope high school in 1946. On July 21, 1946 she was united in marriage to Richard Van Arends at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple farmed in the Squaw Creek area south of Stanhope. Delores worked for the Hamilton County Public Hospital in the Physical Therapy Department for 30 years. In 1993, she started to work for Foster Funeral Home as a visitation and funeral assistant until 2016.

Mrs. Arends is survived by her children, Jeff and Connie Arends of Webster City; Bruce and Joy Arends of Waterloo; treasured grandchildren, Shelly and Eric Hanson; Kurt and Anne Arends; Rossi and Corbin Payne; Jared Arends; Jacob and Emily Arends; Shawn and Neeley Wetzler; precious great-grandchildren, Caylee and Abby Payne; Sam McNally; Aidan Hanson; Grant, Allison and Madelyn Arends; Holden and Berkley Wetzler; sister, Lorraine Groves of Eagle Grove, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dr. Mary Arends Lorenz of Manchester, Pat and Al Arends of Albert Lea, MN; Jane and Larry Arends of Prior Lake, MN and several nieces and nephews.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Richard on June 28, 2014; her parents, Ed and Lena; brothers, Loren Ehlert, Robert (Dewey) Brown, and Carl Ehlert.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a former member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanhope, Ruth Church Circle, a greeter and usher at church, CSP, a chair person for Past Employees of the Hospital, a hospice volunteer and chairperson for Hamilton County hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Gentiva Hospice or a charity of your choice.
