Mervin Mourlam, 88, of Webster City, died Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Van Diest Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with Pastor Craig Blaufuss officiating. Burial at Graceland Cemetery will follow the services. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm. at the funeral home.

Mervin Wayne Mourlam was born on May 1, 1928 in Wright County, the son of Albert and Sophie Claude Mourlam. He married Shirley Bahrenfuss in November of 1948. To this union four sons were born. The couple farmed north of Blairsburg and north of Webster City. Shirley preceded him in death in 1972. Mervin married Dorene Arbaugh in 1973 and added two boys and one girl to the family. Mervin was a meat cutter at Fareway for 23 years. Dorene preceded him in death in 2009.

Mervin is survived by his children, Stephen and Shel Mourlam, Jeff and Dee Mourlam, all of Webster City; Dennis and Tina Mourlam of Stratford; Mark and Lori Mourlam of Sheldon; Kathy and Arne Fagervik of Blairsburg; Rick and Marlene Arbaugh of Webster City; and was blessed with 21 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; special foster children, Duane Watts, Angie Watts, Ann Gardner; special friend Ruth Hinderks; many nieces, nephews and foster children.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives; son, Randy Arbaugh; sisters, Blanche Lovelace and Beulah Jessen.

Mervin was a member of First Baptist Church, and enjoyed camping, wintering in Texas for 17 years, sitting on his porch swing and talking with friends and neighbors, and was a foster parent to over 50 children.
