Two Widely Known Webster City Residents Die Today

W.N. MERRILL DIES AT HOME OF DAUGHTER

Miss Katheryn Schropfer Dead at Farm home North of City

Funeral of Miss Schropfer, 65, to Be Held Saturday

Death today took two widely known and long time residents of Webster City. They were W.N. Merrill, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Phillip Merrill, 916 Division street, at noon, and Miss Katheryn Schropfer, who died at 11:25 o'clock this morning at the Schropfer farm home north of this city.

Miss Schropfer's death at 11:25 o'clock, followed a serious illness of eight weeks. For three weeks she was a patient at Mercy hospital, Fort Dodge, but she was later brought to her home and for the past five weeks her condition has been critical.

Death was caused by diabetes, a paralytid stroke and various complications. She had been in poor health for the past several years. Miss Schropfer was 65 years old.

Funeral services will be held at the Catholic church Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, Father W.J. Baxter officiating. Burial will be made in the Catholic cemetery. Foster's in charge.

Miss Schropfer made her home with her brothers, Frank and George Schropfer, at their farm home north of this city. A third brother, Winslow, was killed nine months ago when his automobile was struck by a North Western train at a crossing a short distance from their home.

She leaves her two brothers, two sisters, Mrs. Charles Bernatzki and Mrs. Anna Stark, and the following nieces and nephews: Miss Marie Bernatzki, Mrs. Cora Newton, of Hartford, Conn.; Mrs. Kathryn Fagan, of Royal Oak, Mich.; Mrs. Annetta Woods, Max Stark and Winslow Stark. There are also the following grand nieces and nephews: Mary Helen Woods, Kathryn, Marjory and Frederick Fagan and Morris, Richard and John Stark.

Her parents and two brothers, who died in infancy, and Winslow Schropfer have preceded her in death.

Miss Schropfer was born in Bishop, Tinnietc, Bohemia, July 23, 1868 and she came to the United States with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Schropfer, in 1871. The family settled on a farm one mile west and one mile north of Webster City and they lived there until Miss Schropfer and her brothers built their farm home north of this city and moved there in 1920.

She was a member of the Catholic church.
