He came to the United States in 1869 with his brother, Winslow, and his uncle, Frank Wagner. He lived in Illinois for a short time, where he was employed, and in 1870 he came to Hamilton county, Iowa, and located on a farm south of this city.

Three days before the Chicago fire, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Stark and family arrived in Chicago from Bohemia, and came directly to Webster City to join their two sons, Frank and Winslow. They bought a farm in Fremont township and located there.

Frank Schropfer, who was not married, lived in Fremont township until 15 years ago when he and his two brothers and sister, Katie, built their beautiful new brick residence just north of this city, and moved there.
