The Lord brought Rachel L. Busing home on January 17, 2016, at Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines, Iowa. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday January 21, 2016 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City, Iowa with Pastor Suzie Moore officiating. Following the services, burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rachel, 85 years old, formerly of Stanhope, Iowa, and most recently a resident of Legacy Pointe in Waukee, Iowa, was born on June 10, 1930, to Verne and Marie Temple VanLangen, of Kamrar, Iowa. She graduated from Kamrar High School. She was married on April 23, 1950 to Edward E. Busing of Stanhope, Iowa. Together they had four children. Her husband Edward was elected to the State House of Representatives in 1960. In 1964 they began Traffic Marking Services and continued in that business for 31 years. After the death of her husband, she and her son continued to run the business until 2005.

Rachel was an avid sports fan and spent many hours watching and talking sports with her family and friends and had several College and Professional favorites. She especially enjoyed watching Drake, Iowa and Iowa State. Rachel spent her winters in Harlingen, Texas where she enjoyed her time going to South Padre Island, Texas and Progreso, Mexico.

She is survived by her children: Delayne Johnson; Edward "Butch" Busing, Jr.; and Janis Lavorato (Son-In-Law Louis Lavorato, former Chief Justice of the Iowa Supreme Court) all of West Des Moines, Iowa; Jody Busing of Spanish Fort, Alabama; sister Mavis (Jim) Hunt of Marshalltown, Iowa. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Matthew Johnson, of Denver, Colorado; Jacob Johnson of West Des Moines, Iowa; Jenna Green of Des Moines, Iowa; Johnathan Busing (Liz) of Stanhope, Iowa; Teddi Busing of Stanhope, Iowa; and Blaise Busing of Jewell, Iowa; great grandchild Tucker Busing; nephew John McCormick, Stuart, Florida; niece, Jayme McCormick, Richmond, Virginia; nephew Dr. Geoffry (Connie) Drake of San Benito, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 45 years.

The family would like to thank Mercy Hospital, Methodist Hospital and Taylor House for all their support in her final weeks and days. We would also like to thank Legacy Pointe for their encouragement and lifting her spirits in her final six months of life.
