Jean Kidney, 90, of Perry, Iowa, died Sunday, December 6, 2015.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 14, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Paul Burrow, officiating. A private burial will take place at Violet Hill Cemetery, Perry, Iowa. Visitation will be held at Carris Family Funeral Home Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. with family present from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Memorial donations will be given to the Perry Fine Arts. Margaret Jean Kidney, daughter of Herman and Iriel Margarite (Poor) Olson, was born on January 7, 1925, in Mount Ayr, Iowa. She attended a one room country school until second grade. She moved closer to town and walked over a mile to attend school in town. She first noticed Don Kidney in the eighth grade. They dated throughout high school. Upon graduation, Jean took a bus to Des Moines to work for the Internal Revenue Service. A couple of weeks after she went to Des Moines to work, Don gave her an engagement ring. She continued to work for 2 1/2 years while Don entered the military service.

On March 30, 1946, in Des Moines, Iowa, Jean was united in marriage with Don Kidney. The couple lived in Perry where she worked for the Gas Company, The Dallas County Credit Bureau, and over 20 years at the Perry State Bank (Raccoon Valley Bank).

She was a warm hearted woman who loved life, her family, her friends and her faith.

She was active in her children's school activities. She enjoyed travelling and visiting with her friends. Her faith has always been important to her and she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Perry since 1947.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Iril Olson; her husband, Don Kidney; a granddaughter, Tracy Kidney, and a great grandson, Dylan Kidney.

She is survived by sons, John (Linda) Kidney of Webster City, IA; son Jim (Joe Hollinday) Kidney of Palm Springs, CA; son Bob (Joan) Kidney of Carroll, IA; daughter Kay (Kent) Larson of Clive, IA; sister Betty Michelson of Belleview, FL, 6 granddaughters, 10 great grandchildren, an aunt Mary (Arthur) Montgomery of Indianola, IA and several nieces and nephews.
