Sinold Swenson, age 98, formerly of Radcliffe, IA, died on Monday, November 9, 2015 at Bethany Manor in Story City, IA.

Sinold Swenson, age 98, Radcliffe, Iowa, went home to be with his heavenly Father on November 9, while a resident at Bethany Manor.

Sinold was born on April 16, 1917, to Iver and Mary (Olson) Swenson on the family farm west of Radcliffe. He was a lifelong farmer in the Radcliffe area. Si married Amy Wicks on December 14, 1941. Together they raised seven children and were blessed with 17 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Sinold grew up in a time where there was little excess & sacrifice was a way of life. Losing his father at the age of 11 he began working the family farm, thus beginning his farming career. Growing up in lean times Si was determined to provide a better life for his family, with hard work he and Amy created a wonderful legacy. Si was proud of his farm, the houses he built for his family, but his greatest accomplishment was his family. He so loved his children, grandchildren, & great-grandchildren. His family tree has grown strong with many branches spreading wide. He will be missed and always loved by all.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 74 years, Amy, of Story City, IA ; sister Ina Brown of Denver, CO; his children Reggie (Barbara) Swenson of Suffern, NY, Cheryl (Leon) Skeie of Corona del Mar, CA, Lynn (Jacky) Swenson of Grafton, WI, Kathy Hyland (Mark Hill) of Ellsworth, IA, Patty (Wes) Thoreson of Ellsworth, IA, Gary (DeAnn) Swenson of West Des Moines, IA, Mervin (Chris) Swenson of Maxwell, IA; 16 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Iver and Mary Swenson, brothers Elver, Thelmer, Adner and Murvin, sister Roceille Amerling, three infant siblings, grandson Michael Peck and great- granddaughter Jessica Joy Rees.
