Steven Lee Olthoff, 51, Shreveport, Louisiana, died Nov. 1, 2015 at his home of a heart attack. It was his wish that he be cremated with a celebration of life to be scheduled at a later date.

Steven was born Sept. 29, 1964 in Webster City, Iowa, the son of Harold Olthoff and Rosemary Petersen. He was confirmed Methodist and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He helped when possible at the Salvation Army in Shreveport. He loved his nicknames and others often knew him by them ? Oly, Rebar and Uncle Buck were his favorites.

He was courageous, a loyal friend and had an extremely kind, loving heart. He loved people. He was a bit of a dare devil and thrill seeker, fearless, brave and never backed down from anything. He always took advantage of the opportunity to help others even when it was at his own sacrifice. He lived life to the fullest, some may say on the edge the way he pleased. He truly did what made him happy, regardless of what anyone thought. He spend his days fishing, hunting, making new friends and having a beer. He did not care about what other people thought of him. He lived in the moment and there is no better place to be.

He is survived by his father, Harold Olthoff, Mesa, Arizona; his daughter, Abbi Olthoff, Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Alex and Emma; brother Tom Olthoff of Liberty Township, Ohio and nephew Evan; sister Kay Pillow, Kansas City, Kansas, and two nieces, Bethany and Katie.

He would not want tears. He would want you to say a personal prayer and a private toast over a beer in his behalf.
